A relaxing and comfortable outdoor lighting design

A peaceful memorial garden pays tribute to the former CTV Building in Christchurch’s CBD.

Led by Jasmax architects, who worked with development company Ōtākaro Limited, the garden offers a space for remembrance and reflection.

The design contains two plinths, one with a vertical screen which allows people to attach mementos and the other holds a running water feature. Cherry blossom and kowhai trees have been planted to provide colour and vibrancy to the space.

The garden required a sensitive lighting solution. The geometric shape of the ewo FA bollard complements the garden’s stonework, while ERCO Tesis were placed under the trees for their optical cut off. Once the trees are fully grown, the in-ground luminaires will give the appearance of a canopy of light in the cherry blossom, with only 6W of energy.
