Seamless integration of architecture and lighting
The Christchurch Justice & Emergency Services Precinct is an anchor rebuild project of the 2011 earthquake recovery. It is a large multi-agency facility, accommodating all justice sectors and emergency management groups within three 5 level buildings.
The project brief called for a safe, open and welcoming space to build trust and confidence - both with staff and members of the community.
Bespoke Energyline linear extrusions were made to integrate with featured finishes throughout the building. The high court and court room lighting also involved Energyline. Linear extrusions run across the length of the court room, integrated within the ceiling to eliminate glare and direct line of sight from occupants, including the judge at the front of the room.
ERCO Pantrac luminaires were then integrated into the court room walls to reduce the contrast from the ceiling. ERCO Starpoint is installed vertically behind the judge's desk, to further eliminate glare between the wall and window glazing.
