Creating a modern, flexible workspace

COMPANY

AstraZeneca is a global pharmaceutical company whose team works collaboratively to discover, develop and then work towards commercialisation of prescription medicines in Oncology and BioPharmaceuticals, including Cardiovascular, Renal & Metabolism, and Respiratory & Immunology. They are most known recently for their Covid 19 vaccination medication Vaxzervria.

CHALLENGE

Located in Macquarie Park is the Australian head office of AstraZeneca. The 3,000 m2 offices are diversified into four different ‘zones’ which allow the staff of 200 employees to engage in different working styles on a day-to-day basis. This initiative was spearheaded to allow more flexibility while working and allow staff to feel more comfortable. The Zones: Base, Unplugged, Connect, Virtual all serve a different purpose, Energylight’s distributor was tasked with introducing a smart linear lighting system for the open-plan office.

SOLUTION

The Energyline 55 was installed into the offices. A state-of-the-art linear lighting system with customisations such as motion sensors on each run, allowing the light to shine to full intensity on the desks where people are working. In more quiet areas, a standby level is set to maintain the lighting level to the minimum.

Another feature of the Energyline 55 linear system was the capability to integrate the emergency lighting inside the extrusion, so none of the parts were visible from the continuous architectural lines of lights. To keep in brand with AstraZeneca offices a light blue extrusion of Energyline 55 was installed which complimented the colour of the space along with the furniture aesthetics.

RESULT

Uncompromised light utilising the natural light from the windows present in the commercial building to the aesthetically pleasing straight lines created from the Energyline extrusion to compliment the space.
