COMPANY

Eastfield Health (formally known as Sealy Street medical) is a practice located in Ashburton, with a small team of dedicated healthcare providers. They tailor to a wide range of clientele and provide services including maternity care and minor in-house procedures.

CHALLENGE

Eastfield Health was a newly designed two-story facility that opened in 2020. Three-Sixty Architects were commissioned for the architectural design of the facility and looked to incorporate timber, white and green colours with windows to allow natural light. Energylight was tasked with providing the best lighting solution for the varied rooms in the centre from corridors to consultation rooms, main reception area and external entry points.

SOLUTION

Energylight worked with the design team to provide a quality but economical lighting solution for the facility. Approximately 48 x RZB Sidelight Eco were implemented in the consultation rooms and staff rooms as these are a cost-efficient luminaire that provide an advanced LED technology, ideal for close examination quarters and for installation in plasterboard ceilings. These lights recessed into the ceiling and when compared with conventional light sources, ensured that Eastfield Health could save on energy (up to 90 percent when integrated with wireless control such as Casambi).

ERCO 3circuit tracks with RZB Calido spots were installed in the reception and lobby area for flexibility. These permitted warm accents to the timber walls and furniture elements.

RESULT

The design by Three-Sixty Architects was exemplar, a combination of a functional and architectural lighting solution contributed to the success of this project awarding them a Designers Institute of New Zealand Best Design Awards in 2020 for under $3m project.
