Opuke Thermal Pools and Spa is the first solar-powered hot pool in the world. Located in the Methven on the South Island of New Zealand, this venue sources its water from the Rangitata River that is fed by the glacial melt water emerging from the spectacular Southern Alps. The industry-leading water-treatment system ensures exceptional purity of our bathing water.

In keeping with the value of Opuke and their vision to provide a world class experience for their customers, emphasis was placed on lighting that was sustainable and architectural to compliment the venue. Sheppard & Rout Architects collaborated with Eleccom to provide a holistic “resort style” architectural lighting design to reveal key elements in detail and with high visual comfort.

In keeping with the brief, Energylight supplied the project with various ERCO Gecko and Optec luminaires. Ambient light to foyer walls and accents to key signage, provides clear guidance into the facility. Selecting quality luminaires will maintain a welcoming and cozy facility for many years.
