INTRODUCTION

The Warehouse Group was founded in 1982 and is committed to meeting Kiwi shoppers' changing needs, with a strong focus on sustainability and corporate responsibility. Through community support initiatives and efforts to reduce its environmental footprint, The Warehouse Group remains at the forefront of industry trends, ensuring relevance and resilience in a competitive marketplace.

CHALLENGES

The Warehouse Group Auckland Support Office Project faced several challenges, primarily delivering a sustainable lighting solution using efficient, NZ-made luminaires where possible and a 'less is more' design philosophy. The reception area needed to enhance spatial perception without discomfort or visual noise, requiring precise luminaire selection and placement. Additionally, maintaining a low-glare environment in the office area while ensuring optimal task illumination and future-proofing the building for change were crucial.

SOLUTION

The solution was twofold. For the reception, café, and communal areas, ECS used Richard Kelly's Language of Light to create human-centric spaces with optimal vertical illumination, precise optical control, and a warm 3000K colour temperature. The office spaces featured NZ-made VIFO luminaires with a 4000K colour temperature for alertness and focus, ensuring uniform, low-glare illumination. By prioritising sustainability and local manufacturing, The Warehouse Group and ECS demonstrated environmental responsibility, creating a workspace that supports well-being and community engagement, exemplifying good lighting practice.
